Nature And Traditional Healing
Malay traditional healing practices use a holistic approach, involving physical, spiritual, mental, emotional and behavioural factors. It includes the diversity of approaches, knowledge and beliefs incorporating plants, animals and mineral-based medicines as well as spiritual therapies techniques and exercise applied to individually or in a combination to maintain health, to treat illness or to prevent it. This book consists of seven articles, which deal with traditional knowledge and local wisdom related to nature and traditional healing. It presents the applications of traditional healing practices as a knowledge system that has developed over generations, especially within the Malay societies. This book mainly discusses the use of natural resources, traditional treatments and the effectiveness of herbal medicine in healing illnesses.
Another aspect explored in this book is the interconnectedness and dynamic relationship between humans, biodiversity and environment, including plants and animals, as well as their roles in traditional medicine.Editors: Darlina Md. Naim, Mardiana Idayu Ahmad& Zuraidah Mohd Yusoff
